THE HURRICANE Summer 2019 The sky was darkening as we finished our storm preparations. The hurricane, named Jake of all things, was heading right for south Florida. Today was the last day to get anything done before the storm got closer. After dark, the winds would increase and it would no longer be safe to be outside.  All the shutters were up and bolted tightly and anything loose was brought inside the house. The wind could easily turn the smallest object into a projectile. All patio furniture now filled the living room. All orchids and hanging plants filled the garage. It looked like a green house. The Beach  Summer 2019 “Wake up, Jeff. Come on lover, wake up” I whispered in his ear. He rolled onto his side and opened his eyes. I love watching him wake up. My Birthday Gift Winter 2018 My birthday is towards the end of December, close to Christmas. I remember always being disappointed by the gifts I received as a child because of how close it was to the “big” holiday. Usually, it was clothing or some other practical choice, like shoes. As I grew older, I no longer noticed or cared. By then, I’d learned it’s better to give than receive. But this birthday, I was nervous and excited at the same time. I was turning 55 and Jeff asked me a few weeks ago what I wanted for my birthday.  “Tell me what you want, babe. Anything. If I can afford it, it’s yours!” he said. “Anything? Hmm. Let me think for a minute,” I replied. No one had ever asked me this before. It came to me quickly. “Remember a few months ago, we talked about massages and “happy endings? And how I’d never had one before?” I asked. “Yeah, really?” Jeff replied. “Yeah, really,” I said.  “Hmm, babe. I don’t know. Maybe. You sure?” he asked
